Why bed and mattress compatibility matters

Hospital beds in a ward

Hospitals often buy beds and mattresses separately, but the two are designed to work as a system. A mismatch can affect patient comfort, safety and the life of the equipment.

What to check

  • That the mattress size and profile fit the bed frame
  • That the bed sections move without squeezing or lifting the mattress
  • That the cover and materials suit your cleaning routine

Ask your supplier to confirm compatibility in writing and to advise on mattress options for different patient needs.
