Frequently Asked Questions

Questions, answered.

Everything building owners ask us about elevators, escalators, generators — buying, installing and maintaining them.

Buying & Installation

How do I choose the right elevator for my building?

+

It starts with a free site survey. We assess floors served, expected traffic, shaft dimensions (or space for a new shaft) and power supply, then recommend a capacity, speed and cabin configuration. You receive a written proposal with layout drawings before any commitment.

How long does a typical installation take?

+

For a standard passenger lift in a ready shaft, 4–8 weeks from equipment arrival, including testing and handover. Escalators and higher-rise installations take longer. We provide a written schedule at contract signing and update you at every milestone.

Do you handle the civil and electrical work too?

+

Yes. As a concern of The Structural Engineers Ltd., we can take on shaft construction, machine-room civil works and dedicated power supply — one accountable contractor for the whole scope.

What warranty do you provide?

+

New installations carry a comprehensive warranty covering parts and workmanship, typically 12–24 months depending on the product line. Warranty terms are stated plainly in your contract — no fine-print exclusions.

Maintenance & AMC

What does an annual maintenance contract include?

+

Scheduled monthly visits, lubrication and adjustment, safety-circuit checks, genuine spare parts fitted by our own technicians, a written report after every visit, and priority 24/7 emergency response.

Do you maintain elevators installed by other companies?

+

Yes. After a full condition survey we take over maintenance of most makes and models. If a unit needs remedial work before we can guarantee it, we tell you exactly what and why.

How fast do you respond to a breakdown?

+

Emergency calls — especially entrapments — go straight to an on-call engineer, 24/7. Contract clients receive priority dispatch; in Dhaka that typically means a technician on site within hours, not days.

How often should my lift be serviced?

+

Monthly is the baseline for any lift in regular use. Low-traffic installations can move to bi-monthly or quarterly after an engineer’s assessment. Skipping visits doesn’t save money — it defers it into repairs.

Modernization & Repairs

My elevator is 20 years old. Replace or modernize?

+

Usually modernize. Controls, door operators, cabins and safety components can be upgraded selectively at a fraction of replacement cost. We survey the unit and give you both options priced, with an honest recommendation.

Can you source parts for discontinued models?

+

In most cases yes — we stock common components locally and maintain supplier channels for older equipment. Where a part is truly unobtainable, we propose a compatible retrofit rather than leaving the unit idle.

Will modernization work shut the lift down for long?

+

Work is staged to minimize downtime — typically days per phase, not weeks, and scheduled around your building’s quiet hours where possible.

Generators & Other Products

Do you supply and install diesel generators?

+

Yes — sized to your building’s load, with canopy or open-set options, ATS panels and full installation including fuel systems and exhaust. Maintenance contracts are available for generators too.

Can I get elevator, generator and metalwork under one contract?

+

That’s our specialty. One contract, one project manager, one accountable team for the building’s full electro-mechanical scope.

Where can I see detailed product specifications?

+

Product catalogs with dimensions, finishes and technical data are on our Downloads page. If you need a spec we haven’t published yet, contact us and we’ll send it the same day.
